Above is the Ronald McDonald House in Central Denver.  This is one of two Ronald McDonald Houses located in the Denver area.  This house is adjacent to Saint Joseph and Presbyterian St. Luke’s hospitals but also serves other hospitals in the metro area.  The second location is in Aurora and primarily serves Children’s Hospital.                   

The houses provide housing primarily for parents of kids hospitalized with serious issues that result in long stays in the hospital.  They provide private rooms equivalent to a hotel room, kitchen and laundry accommodation and meals.

Ronald McDonald Houses also offers Family Rooms in various hospitals offering kitchens, play areas, and quiet rest areas steps from the patient’s bed.

These facilities provide housing for families from out state Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Nebraska, and New Mexico but have had families from all states and around the word stay at the houses.  Average stay at the Denver house is around 14 nights with the average in Aurora being over four weeks.  The longest stay was 454 nights.

Residents’ children suffer from many illnesses including cancer, physical rehabilitation, and others but a high number in the Denver site are Neonatal Intensive Care patients.  Some born at less than 1 pound, some born needing immediate surgery including heart surgery.  Another group of residents are mothers who have been identified as having critical issues with pregnancy or the unborn child has been identified as needing surgery immediately after birth.

The Denver site has 73 rooms while the Aurora site has 45.  Currently the Denver site has about 95% occupancy and the Aurora site has 100% occupancy and provides longer term service associated Childrens Hospital provides specialized services.

The Ronald McDonald Houses in Denver operate on in-Kind donations of household supplies, Special fund-raising events, funds from McDonald and other corporations but 30% of the fund raised come from local donations.


Our Impact In 2022

With you by our side, in 2022, we welcomed 2,130 families and provided them with 33,200 nights of rest.  Those families traveled from 46 states and 6 countries and stayed with us for an average of 23 nights.  We fed them 18,200 hot meals and saved them a total of $8,665,200 in lodging and food expenses.
